Because of threats to potential fire hazard and inconsistent performance, the Aurora Red Hand Flare products were ordered for a national recall. These products were supplied by Drew Marine Signal & Safety Australia Pty Ltd. The said recall pertains to Aurora Red Hand Flare products with lot numbers 3186 to 3260 inclusive.
The Aurora Red Hand Flare products were made available nationally during the period of February 14, 2014 until June 11, 2014. They can be sold as singles. At the same time, they can also be included in the Aurora Inshore Flare kit, the New South Wales Offshore kit and the South Australia Offshore kit.
Why was there a need for recall? Tests were conducted and results revealed that hot particle emissions produced by some flares may create a potential fire hazard. The tests further showed that some flares were defective which resulted to inconsistent and poor performance.
Consumers in possession of these Aurora Red Hand Flare products are advised to stop using them and return the products to the place of purchase. Returned products will be replaced free of charge.
